Editing might be a bloody trade. But knives aren’t the exclusive property of butchers. Surgeons use them too.

Not sure if you're ready to submit a grant proposal? If you need help deciding whether to submit on the next deadline, or whether to resubmit, recycle, or submit as new, then let me help! I provide consultation services to get you headed in the right direction. I can provide insight into funding agency portfolios and priorities, and help you make the right choice. Consultation can happen over the phone, via email, or in person depending on where you are located. Contact me today and we can discuss whether this service is right for you.

Consultation Fee: $200.00 per proposal discussed.

Includes my research into your funding agency and study section of interest, evaluation of reviewer summary statements, and comprehensive discussion of your proposal idea including preliminary data, publication record, and the need for collaborations.

Basic editing and proofreading for spelling, grammar, noun-verb agreement, verb tense, punctuation, and consistent formatting. This level also includes editing for style and clarity, such as smoothing language and rewriting sentences.

Includes Premium services as well as extensive editing as needed to fully maximize clarity and impact including stylistic editing and, if needed, significant editing and reorganization of paragraphs. This results in a polished document that is as clear and effective as possible.

This level of review includes professional editing. In addition, I will review drafts of your documents to provide feedback to improve the overall presentation and best align a given proposal to the expectations and/or priorities of a given sponsor, institution, or study section. I will also:

Review the scientific content to ensure that the aims are:

  • non-dependent

  • reasonable to the hypothesis

  • appropriate for the specific scope of the solicitation.

Assess the Research Strategy for inclusion of the NIH requirements for Rigor and Reproducibility including:

  • Scientific Premise in the Significance

  • Rigorous Experimental Design in the Approach

  • Consideration of Sex and Other Relevant Biological Variables

This level also includes image formatting and document compliance check.

In addition to the scientific/technical portions of the proposal, I strongly encourage you to provide drafts of the supplementary sections, e.g., facilities, budget justification, biosketches etc. Each of these documents will be reviewed in conjunction with the scientific proposal to ensure the most cohesive and targeted presentation of the information for a given sponsor.
